Alice Sue Bryant, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Born on June 6, 1943, in Tacoma, Virginia, Alice Sue was the daughter of the late Gilbert Corder and Anna Renfro Corder.

Alice Sue lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to her community. She made history as the first female school bus driver in Wise County, a role she fulfilled with pride and dedication. She also worked for several years as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly, where her friendly smile and warm personality made lasting friendships with customers and coworkers alike.

A faithful member of Tacoma Methodist Church, Alice Sue was also an active member of the Coeburn Alumni Association for many years. Above all, she treasured her family and embraced her roles as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Affectionately known throughout the community as **"Big Al"** and **"Mamaw,"** she was not only a beloved grandmother to her own family but also "Mamaw" to the baseball team and countless others whose lives she touched with her love, encouragement, and caring spirit. Her home and heart were always open to those around her, and she never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan Bryant, and her brother, David Corder.

She is survived by her children, Tammie Ringley and husband, Mark, of Coeburn, Virginia; Liz Counts and husband, Tracy, of Coeburn, Virginia; Danny Bryant Jr. of Bristol, Tennessee; and Jason Bryant and wife, Nicole, of Coeburn, Virginia.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jon Hall of Coeburn, Virginia; Ashley Hall of Coeburn, Virginia; Wesley Hall and wife, Stephanie, of Atlanta, Georgia; Matthew Hall and wife, Amanda, of Hickory, North Carolina; Schyler Bryant of Gray, Tennessee; and Grayson Bryant of Coeburn, Virginia; her beloved great-grandchildren, Cash, Aubrey, Jackson, Lucas, Mikayla, and Dylan; along with many other close relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Interment will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, where family and friends are asked to meet for a graveside service.

Alice Sue will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, her infectious smile, and the love she freely shared with everyone she met. Whether they knew her as Alice Sue, **"Big Al,"** or **"Mamaw,"** her legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion to family and community will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
