Alice Ann Smith, age 86, went to be with the Lord at her home on Sunday, January 3, 2021. She was a retired employee of the Social Security Administration and the Mine Safety and Health Administration in Norton, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence L. Smith and her mother Mamie Fayne Hughes. She is survived by several cousins, precious neighbors, a host of friends, and her beloved pets. She was a member of Mary's Chapel Church, in Coeburn, Virginia.

Ann loved all animals. She had a contagious smile and laugh which made everyone around her feel blessed and happy in her presence. Ann was also generous and kind-hearted to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.

Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements. There will not be any funeral services; however, there will be a short graveside service at Temple Hill Memorial Cemetery in Castlewood, Virginia, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, with Marty Puckett officiating.
