Coeburn, VA - Alisa Dawn Hopkins

Alisa Dawn Hopkins, better known as nan or nanny, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. She was the owner of Dawn's Daycare and loved all of her babies that walked through her door over the years as her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wythe and Frances Meade and one brother, Lyle D. Meade.

Alisa is survived by her husband, Jim Hopkins; daughter, Malissa McConnell (Chuck), of Coeburn, VA; son, Blaine (BO) McCoy, Jr., of Coeburn, VA; stepchildren, James Hopkins (Lisa), Virginia Messer and Russell Hopkins; 10 grandchildren; brother, Harold Meade (Pat) ; sister, Myra Sullivan; special friends and neighbors, Mike and Ashley Carmony, Patsy Farmer, Cathy Wright, and Betty Bruner as well as numerous daycare children and parent that became family.

Visitation for Alisa will be Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be Monday, July 3, 2023 at Temple Hill Mausoleum at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor RL Crawford officiating. Family and Friends are asked to meet at Temple Hill by 12:45 for the services.
