Barbara Lynn Hyden Vowell, 86, of Appalachia, VA, entered into rest Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. She was born in Wise County, VA September 1, 1935, to the late Lynn Hyden and Martha Oaks. Barbara loved all who were around her especially her husband and family. She loved to play bingo, go bowling, and play pool. Barbara and her husband were members of VFW in Florida. She attended the Dunbar Methodist Church in Dunbar community.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Vowell; her parents, Lynn Hyden and Martha Phillips; son, James Vowell, Jr.; grandchildren, James McCorkel, William McCorkel, Jr; Great granddaughter Audreonia Deel; brothers, Donald Hyden and Billy Oaks; sister, Marcella Justice.

Barbara is survived by her children, Teresa Powers of Appalachia, VA, Randal Vowell and family of FL, and Edward Vowell and family of TN; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Services will be private. Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband, James, in Florida.
