Beecher Lee Mitchell Sr. was a hard-working servant of the Lord who went home to be with his sweetheart on August 29, 2022, at 6:28 pm. He was born on March 11, 1940, in Wise County, VA, to the late Allard and Ruby (Carico) Mitchell. He was a selfless and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all who knew him.

He was survived by his children, Teresa Mitchell of Nora, VA, Shelia McCoy of Kingsport, TN, Beecher Lee Mitchell Jr and wife Melissa of Coeburn, VA and Karen Mitchell of Norton, VA; grandchildren, Misty Flanary, Bridgette McTeer, Tiffany McCoy (Amber Adams), William McCoy Jr (Andrea McCoy), John Swindle, Jessica Mitchell (Dustin Hall), and Heather Mitchell; great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Daisy Mitchell (Charlie Mitchell), Annette Skeens (Tilden Skeens), Mae Wise (the late Carson Wise); brothers, Carlos Mitchell (the late Shelia Mitchell), Lester Mitchell (the late Patricia Ann Mitchell), and Ronnie Mitchell (Laverne Mitchell); a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Lee Kidwell Mitchell; sister, Bertie McCoy; and a stepson, David Kidwell.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at McCoy Chapel on Brushy Ridge in Nora, VA. Funeral services will be Friday, 1:00 p.m., at McCoy Chapel with Pastor Roger McCoy officiating, with special singing by Andrea McCoy and Joe Hoskins. Burial will follow in Mitchell Family Cemetery on Brushy Ridge.

Pallbearers will be William McCoy Jr, Tiffany McCoy, Logan McCoy, Dustin Hall, Jessica Mitchell, and John Swindle.
