Betty Ann Powers Sturgill, born June 28, 1942, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Sturgill; her parents, Teddy Milton Powers and Flora Lee Mullins Powers; three brothers, Hubert Lee Powers, George Robert Powers, and Kenneth David Powers; and two sisters, Mary Nell Myers and Sharlotte McClara.

Betty is survived by her three children: Timothy Wayne Blankenship (Shelly), John "Ted" Theodore Blankenship (Angela), and Susan Michelle Blankenship Tipton (Billy); and by her five stepchildren: Carl Sturgill Jr. (Robin), Cathy Sturgill Orr (Bob), Randy Sturgill (Marie), Robert Sturgill, and Sam Sturgill. She is also survived by her brother, Kyle Milton Powers (Pam); her brother-in-law, Dick Myers; her sister-in-law, Linda Powers; and her special nephew, George Brett Powers. Her grandchildren include Brittany Nicole Blankenship, Geoffrey David Blankenship, Jason Daniel Blankenship (Abby), Eric Douglas Blankenship (Carra), Thomas Clinton Tipton, Kelli Nicole Tipton Waddell, and John Wesley Tipton, along with her special grandnephew, Landon Powers. Betty is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Visitation for Betty will be Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with funeral services following at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Estes Funeral Home of Coeburn, VA. A graveside service will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 11:00 am in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Coeburn, VA. Those who wish to follow in procession to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 am.
