Billy Wayne "Bill" Marshall was born December 24, 1959, in Norton, VA, to Darvin and Ganell Marshall of the Sandy Ridge community of Coeburn, VA.  He was a graduate of Coeburn High School class of 1978 and Clinch Valley College class of 1982. Bill worked as an insurance adjuster of Farm Bureau and Nationwide Insurance Companies in Eastern North Carolina and Virginia.

Bill was a quiet man, but he truly enjoyed putting on a big Halloween display for the neighborhood kids when his health permitted, doted on his nieces and nephews and provided foster care for a time.  He enjoyed working on classic cars and was an avid reader.  His dogs were his constant companions throughout his life, and any conversation with him usually contained stories about his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his father, the late Darvin Marshall.

Bill is survived by his mother, Ganell Marshall of St Paul, VA; brother and sister-in-law, John and Vickie Marshall of Frederick, MD; nephews, Cheyne and Ryan Marshall of Frederick, MD; niece, Erin Marshall of St. Augustine, FL.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Elder Danny O'Quinn and Elder Earl Deel officiating. A committal service will follow in the Marshall Family Cemetery on Sandy Ridge in Coeburn.
