Bruce Farmer, 62, of Coeburn, VA entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home after an illness.

Born in Norton, VA, he was a son of the late William Alex Farmer, Sr. and Emma Jean Proulex Farmer. He worked as a Rig Hand on Drilling Rigs. He enjoyed Hunting with his coon dogs and was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ray Farmer and Connie Lee Farmer.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sheila Farmer of the home; son, Matthew Farmer of Coeburn, VA; brothers, Bobby Joe (Sue) Farmer of Coeburn, VA, Randy Dale (Judy) Farmer of Coeburn, VA, Chris Farmer of  Lexington, NC, William Alex Farmer, Jr. of Big Stone Gap, VA; sisters, Carol Jean (Kevin) Compton of Dungannon, VA, Betty Ruth Hamilton of Lexington, NC, Rose Marie Finch of Nickelsville, VA; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and thanks to Torrie Rose and the staff of Ballad Health Hospice for their kindness and care during Bruce's illness.

Visitation will be 11-1 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Lawson, Bro Robert Nixon and Bro Tim Branson officiating. Burial will follow in the McCarty Family Cemetery in the Crab Orchard community of Coeburn.
