Coeburn, VA ~ Carl Ray Yates, 69 passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at his residence in Coeburn, Virginia.He was a retired employee if VICC in Coeburn and a U.S. Army Veteran.He was the son of the late Eli Tucker Yates and Lydia Inez Yates, also preceded in death by sister, Marie Childress and a brother, R. C. Yates.Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Adkins Yates, Coeburn, two sons, Shannon (Jaime Counts) Yates, Clintwood,and Jamey Carl Yates, Coeburn, three sisters, Margaret Doss and Ruth Amerson, both of Coeburn, and Hazel Mays, Clintwood, three brothers, Lowell Yates, and Rev. Noel "Shorty" Yates, both of Coeburn, and Wayne Yates, Kingsport, TN, he really loved and adored his grandsons, Colton Yates, Dalton Yates and Mason Yates, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Carl Ray Yates will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 7:00 PM at Riverview Pentecostal Church with Rev. Joseph Daniel Dearry and Rev. Shorty Yates officiating. Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Yates Cemetery on Carter Stanley Highway. The family will meet at the church at 12:30 P.M. and leave in procession. Coeburn V.F.W. will preform military rites at the church before leaving to the cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday after 5:00 P.M. at Church.
