Coeburn, VA ~ Charles Farrell Damron, 76 died Friday, September 26, 2008 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Mountain Home, TN.
Hewas a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal Company and a life member of UMWA and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Mr. Damron was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, Life member of Coeburn VFW Post #8652, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 45, Big Stone Gap and American Legion Post 0243 in Norton.
Also a member of Coeburn Lodge #97 AF & AM, International Association Legions of Honor A.A.O.N.M.S., Shriners of North America A.A. O.N.M. and Order of Eastern Star, Coeburn Chapter #153.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Hillman Damron, parents, Stuartand Macy Damron and one brother.
Survivors include, two sons, Danny Damron, Pound and Charlie Damron, Grey's Lake. IL; Daughters, Debra Blevins, Riner, VA, Ginger Adkins, Aurora, MO, Freda Ketron, Coeburn and Sandra Hamilton, Big Stone Gap; Step-son, Billy Wayne Beverly, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Brothers, Stuart "Bugs" Damron, Covington, GA, Gary Damron, Doran, VA, Danny Damron, Roanoke, VA and Don Damron, Clintwood; Sisters, Jeri Baker, Orlando, FL, May Phipps, Sanford, FL, Fay Duncan, Orlando, FL, Patsy Calhoun, Greenwood, SC, Betty Branham, Tampa FL and Sharon Mullins, Clintwood; 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; Pappy's special grandson, Hunter Damron; special friend, Rosie Perry.
Funeral services for Charles Farrell Damron will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening after 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home where a Masonic evening service will be held at 7:00 P.M. by Coeburn Lodge #97 AF & AM. Burial will be Wednesday at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens with Military Graveside Honors. Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA is in charge.
