Coeburn, VA

Charles A. "Fuzzy" Horton, 70, of Coeburn, VA, entered into rest Friday, December 30, 2022, at Norton Community Hospital. Charles was born, December 23, 1952, in Welch, WV, to the late Rufus and Effie (Smythers) Horton.

Charles enjoyed spending time with his family. He ran heavy equipment all his life for surface mining, mining coal for A&G Coal, Justus Coal, and several others. Charles was known as "Fuzzy" to many that worked with him.

Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Rhoades and Lisa McCormick; and brother, Rufus Horton, Jr.

Left to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 20 years, Carolyn Sue (Lane) Horton; daughters, Michelle Greear and husband Harold and Ashley Hayes and husband Rodney both of Coeburn, VA; step-son, James C. Lane and wife Melissa of Coeburn, VA; brother, Lincoln Horton of Austinville, VA; sister, Rebeca Williams and husband Alton of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren, Justin Greear, Jacob Greear, Nick Hays, Will Hays, and Gracie Lane all of Coeburn, VA; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation for Charles will be Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Services will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor David Hall officiating and special music by Mike Taylor. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 2, 2023, at 11:00 am in Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 am to proceed to the cemetery.
