Coeburn, VA ~ Clifford Joe "Candy Man" Adkins Sr., 63, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at St.Mary's Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
Mr. Adkins was a lifelong resident of Coeburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urin Adkins and Ada Elaine Ellis, a son, Benny Lee Adkins, a daughter, Ada Elaine Sturgill, 2 brothers, Garland "Baldy" Adkins & Freeman "Race Horse" Adkins and a sister Della Adkins.
Survivors include his wife Janie E. Adkins, Jackson, MS; 3 sons, Keith Adkins, Coeburn, Clifford Joe Adkins, Jr., Rockville, MD & Kevin Wayne Adkins, Jackson, MS; 3 daughters, Tammy Renee Adkins, Jackson, MS, Christy M. Adkins, Big Stone Gap & Paula Dawn Adkins, Cottondale, AL; 2 brothers, Donnie Adkins, Coeburn & Emory "Three Hair" Adkins, Kansas City, KS; a sister, Elsie Adkins Harvey, Wise, VA; 18 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, several nephews, several nieces.
Funeral services for Clifford Joe Adkins, Sr. will be held Saturday, June 24, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. R.L. Crawford will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Clifford Adkins Cemetery in Coeburn. Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Friday after 6:00 P.M.
