Darlene McConnell, 72, entered into rest Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at her home in Coeburn, VA. She was born March 30, 1954 in Wise County to the late Joe and Lola McConnell.

Darlene enjoyed being outdoors, especially spending time fishing. She loved her children and grandchildren and spending every moment of time she could being with them. Her grandchildren was her pride and joy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Kermitt, Jay, Kyle Bud, Billy Ray, Eddie, Lowell 'Hoot", and Joe "Oce" McConnell; sisters, Nedra June Reed, Barbara Sue Alley, and Patty Edwards.

Left to cherish her memories are her two children,  Nekisha Hayes and Thomas Britton of Coeburn, VA, and Beth and Brittany Hayes of Coeburn, VA; lifetime partner, Tracy Hayes; sister, Charlene Hampton of Coeburn, VA; brother, Sandy McConnell of Salem, VA; four grandchildren, Kaleb Gibson, Paisleigh Gross, Misty Jones, and Karter Meade; several extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with services following at 7:00pm in the chapel of Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 12:00pm in Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.
