Darst Hugh Massie, 85, of Rogersville TN (formerly of Coeburn, VA) entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home after an extended illness.

Born in Dante, VA, he was a son of the late McKinley Massie and Ruby Collins Massie. He served in the US Army from 1961-1964 and was Honorably discharged.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy McDonald Massie, Sr. and Troy James Massie; sisters, Katherine Clark, Etta Clark, Marie Amburgey, Wilma Cloud, Fannie Corine Massie, Ruth Robinette and Jearldine Ring; several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Massie of the home; daughter, Karen Massie Layne of Rogersville, TN; son, Michael Massie and wife, Dianna of Rogersville, TN; grandchildren, Adam Miles and wife, Gwen, of Rogersville, TN, McKinley Massie and wife, Misha of Rogersville, TN, and Tyler Massie of Rogersville, TN; great-grandchildren, Evan Schunn, Ellie Miles, Emrik Miles, Leland Miles and Atleigh Davis; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Estes Funeral Home with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Kimery officiating.  Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens in Castlewood, VA.
