David Alexander Ward, 70, of Sandy Ridge, Virginia was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 5, 2021.

David was a lifelong resident of Wise County and had a sincere love for Jesus and his family.He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and took great pride in his garden. Dave also served his church as a devoted deacon for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hasting and Jean Ward; two brothers, Anthony Ward, and Robert Ward; one sister, Rhena Paige; and one daughter, Rachel Marella Ward.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Ward, two sons, Eric French and wife, Brandi, and David Alexander (Alex) Ward II and wife, Erin; four daughters, Rebecca Mullins and husband, Jeremy, Jaimee Anderson and husband, Matt, Jennifer Adams, and Bryona Ward; eight grandsons, Zain Anderson, Jonathan Anderson Jr., Tyler Anderson, Quinn Anderson, David Benjamin (Ben) Adams, Aden Mullins, Mason French, and Conor Webb; three granddaughters, Rachel Alexis Ward, Allison French, and Ella Mullins; two brothers, Harlan Ward and wife, Lois, and Wendell Ward; and several nieces and nephews and a host of family, friends, and beloved church family.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 9th from 4 PM - 6 PM with funeral services to follow at 6 PM at Old Maple Grove Baptist Church 6478 Dr. Ralph Stanley HWY, Coeburn, VA 24230. Gary Blevins, Lea Ritchie, and Jeremy Mullins will be officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, VA. Please meet at Old Maple Grove Baptist Church at 1 PM for procession to the cemetery.
