He was preceded in death by his mother, Loletta Gilwater Miller.
Survivors include a devoted companion, Maralyn Washington; his wife Kathy Miller; his father, Theordius Miller; son, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Baltimore, MD; daughter, Melissa Kendall, Baltimore, MD; brothers, Kenneth Miller and Robert Miller both of Jacksonville, NC,
John Courtney and Theodore (Moe) Courtney both of Coeburn, VA; sisters, Wanda Forney, Baltimore, Cynthia Courtney, Coeburn, Rebecca Miller, Angier, NC, Elizabeth Hill, Norton, VA and Tina Thompson, Newport News, VA; 1 Grandchild and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Douglas Fairbanks Miller, Sr. will be held Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herbert (Woody) Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Carbo.Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Friday after 6:00 P.M.
