Edith Skeen Sluss, 85, of Coeburn, VA went to be with Jesus on September 8, 2026. Edith was born in Castlewood, VA on December 16, 1940 and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis Wayne Sluss Sr. Curt and Edith shared 60 wonderful years together in a home full of love and laughter.
Edith was also preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Lottie (Robinson) Skeen; brothers: Deward, Kyle, and Larry Skeen.
She is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Teresa) Sluss and David Sluss; grandchildren, Jess Nash, Adrienne (Gage) McCoy, Jordan (Meg) Sluss, and Stuart Sluss; sisters, Dorothy Louthan, Wilma Gilliam, Jewel Haga, Phyllis (Earl) Peacock, and Liza (Randy) Williams; sisters-in-law, Criss Stallard, Glenda Sluss, Rhonda Skeen, and Bessie Skeen; extended family, Nancy Jones Sluss; special kittycat, Mango; and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
Edith was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Dungannon, VA, where she remained active throughout her life. She was the light of her family’s lives and we are so blessed to call her ours. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, puzzles, watching the hummingbirds, and spending time with her beloved family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation for Edith will be held at First Baptist Church of Dungannon on Monday, September 14 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 pm with Pastor Larry Beavers officiating. Burial will be held at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, VA on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers are Jordan Sluss, Stuart Sluss, Gage McCoy, Jimmy Skeen, Kevin Williams, Chad Sluss, Jess Nash, and other nephews in attendance.
