Edith Marie Stapleton, 86, of Coeburn, VA entered into rest Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Coeburn, VA, November 4, 1937, to the late Walker and Ida Hall.
Edith married William "Bill" Stapleton and they moved from the hills of the Appalachians to the city life in Maryland. After thirty years they decided to return home to the hills where she was a loving homemaker, wife for 69 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all her family and was known to always be the instigator with the grandkids. Edith enjoyed the family outings at the beach, fishing, and was known for those famous chocolate pies.
In addition to her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her son, Bill Stapleton, Jr; brothers, Elmer Hall, Bill Hall, Gene Hall, Doug Hall, Aaron Hall, and Harry Hall; sister, Gladys Woody, Helen Miner, Reginia Hall, and Kathleen Hall.
Left to cherish her memories her husband of 69 years, William "Bill" Stapleton, Sr; sons, Larry Stapleton, Kevin Stapleton, and Mark Stapleton all of Coeburn, VA; daughter-in-law, Christine Stapleton of Coeburn, VA; sister-in-laws, Peggy Hall of Kingsport, TN and Shelby Hall of Draper Valley, VA; grandchildren, Amber Hileman (Logan), Bridget Crawford (Brian), Kristy Moore (Deaudre), Kari Stapleton, Brittany Boggs (Joey), Aaron Stapleton (Regan), Branden Stapleton, Santana Stapleton, and Kassie Stapleton; 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 8, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Marty Puckett officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens in Castlewood, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:00 pm on Tuesday to follow in procession to the graveside.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Stapleton, Branden Stapleton, Ben Hall, Ray Stapleton, Scott Brooks, Joey Boggs, Lee Miner, and Bobby Ketron.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Association to be made in her honor.
