Edward Lee Hale, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Nora, VA on April 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a man of many trades including but not limited to the US Army as a Crew Chief Fire Fighter in South Korea, Retired DCPS Bus Driver, Coal Miner, Carpenter, Mechanic and "jack of all trades".

He was a member of the Christian faith and served as a Deacon of McCoy Chapel Church.  He served his family and community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margie Hale; daughter, Mollie McCoy, two grandsons, Lonnie Allen McCoy and Wilburn Hess, Jr; siblings, Ella Mae, Shirley, Carl Kenneth, and Mary Caroline.

Surviving: his wife, Mary Hale; children, Wilburn (Sue) Hess, Joe (Diana) Hale, Evelyn (Michael) Gilbert, Polly Greear, Darlene (Jack) Casey, Mary (Daryl) Wood, and Betty (Larry) Adkins; 18 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and several more on the way; Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at McCoy Chapel Church in Nora, VA. The funeral will be conducted at 4:00 PM with Pastor Roger McCoy and Jerry McCoy officiating.  Burial will be in the McCoy Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are Andrew Hale, Allen Hale, Raymond Hale, Joe Hale, Alan Woodruff, James Turner, Andy Jacobs, CJ Moore, Hagen Fowler, Wesley Woodruff, Ryan Bailey, Shane Keith, Roger McCoy Jr, Robert Dean, and Eli Smith.
