Coeburn, VA – Elles Patton Sexton

Elles Patton Sexton, 76, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at his home in Coeburn, VA, surrounded by his nieces, Madonna, Carolyn, Pat and Laura Ann. Also, his caregivers Tiffany Hill, Amy Hill, and Janet Franks.

Elles was an honorary Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1966 to 1968 in Vietnam, with US52938382 HHB 5 ^th BN 57 ^th Artillery FBT 4 ^th US Army, with National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Rifle, receiving his Honorable discharge in 1972. He retired as a government contractor for Boland Construction Company, Inc., owner Mark Boland of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Elles was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Erma Jean (Gibson) Sexton; daughter of 32 years, Jennifer Lynn Sexton of Indian Head, Maryland.

Surviving are his sisters, Marlene Stapleton and Cecil Graves of Coeburn, VA, and special nephew, Shawn Mutter; sister-in-law, Hazel Gibson Sexton; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA. Funeral services and military honors will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, at 7:00p.m. Graveside services will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Sexton Family Cemetery, Coeburn, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30a.m. to proceed to the cemetery.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
