Coeburn, VA ~ Elmer Quincy Meade, 81, died Thursday, October 11, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
Mr. Meade was a retired coal miner, member of Sandy Ridge Old Regular Baptist Church and was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Anna Melissa Hayes Meade, a sister, Cosby Carico and a brother, Henry C. Meade.
Survivors include his wife Anna Mae Meade; step-children, Shirley Woodward and Barbara Boone, both of Coeburn and Robert Bise, Pensacola, Fl.; Sister, Savannah Marshall, Coeburn; brothers, Wythe Meade, Coeburn and Kenneth R. Meade, Maryland; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Elmer Quincy Meade will be held Sunday, October 14, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Elmer Sexton and Elder Ronnie Hensley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Saturday from after 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sandy Ridge Old Regular Baptist Church, 5241 Eastville Road, St. Paul, Va. 24283.
