Ernest Lee Salyers

January 3, 1970 – April 6, 2025

Ernie to all who knew him, was born at home on Caney Ridge in Coeburn, VA, the eighth child and third son to the late George and Shirley (McCoy) Salyers.

He leaves behind 9 brothers and sisters; Anita Salyers, Bernice (Curt) Adkins, Teresa Gibson, Curtis Salyers, Diana (Rex) Harvey, Lila (Randy) Hensley, Donald (Tracey) Salyers, Billy Joe Salyers and Angela Salyers Powers; countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

He spent the last 20 plus years as a coal cable technician for XPress Cable where he was not just an employee, but an integral part of their close knit family.

Ernie was the epitome of "work hard – play harder".  After work and on weekends he could be found being the life of the party with family and friends…drinking beer, playing poker, tossing cornhole, going to the Eagles Club (of which he was a member) or riding side by sides on Caney. Which is where he left us, in the very mountains he was born on.

The verse, "I've lived a life that's full, I've traveled each and every highway, but much,  much more than this, I did it my way" by Frank Sinatra fits our Ernie. To know him truly was to love him and he has a special place in every heart that had the privilege to do so.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 pm Friday, April 11, 2025, at Estes Funeral Home with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel with Andy Mullins officiating. Voice of the Victory will provide music. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Acres Cemetery.
