Coeburn, VA ~ Ezra E. Nixon, 88, died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
Mr. Nixon was a retired coal miner of Clinchfield Coal Company and a member of Mary's Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle, his parents, Robert A. and Margaret Colyer Nixon; brothers, Erskin Nixon, Rufus Nixon, Arvil Nixon & Dave Nixon; sisters, Daisy Williams & Vivian Willis; grandson, Jerry E. Nixon, Jr. & 2 great grandchildren.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Joan Odle, Spotsylvania, VA, Vicey Sarver, Bluefield, WV, Frankie Lythgoe, Mechanicsville, VA & Judy Kay Davis, Kingsport, TN; 4 sons, Robert Nixon, Lynchburg, VA, Jerry Nixon, Kingsport, TN, Danny Nixon & Ricky Nixon, both of Richmond, VA; 1 brother, Jeff Nixon, Coeburn; 3 sisters, Virginia Helbert & Mabel Nixon both of Coeburn & Beatrice Powers, Mansfield, OH; 2 special friends, Alice Marcus & Mickey Marcus both of Coeburn; 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and several nephews & several nieces.
Funeral services for Ezra E. Nixon will be held Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 1:30 P.M. at Mary's Chapel Church with Rev. Marty Puckett and Rev. Les Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Coeburn. Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Friday after 5:30 P.M. and a Masonic evening service will be held at 6:45 PM by Coeburn Masonic Lodge # 97 AF & AM. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to building fund at Mary's Chapel Church, PO Box 989, Coeburn, Va. 24230.
