Frances Easter Sluss Collins, 77, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia, with her family by her side. She was born on April 17, 1949, in Coeburn, Virginia, in Wise County, and she lived a life marked by love, laughter, and devotion to her family.

Frances was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and grandmother who took great pride in caring for those she loved. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, and she had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. She was known for her generous heart, her loving spirit, and her ability to bring joy to others in even the simplest moments. Frances was the kind of woman who gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly, and her family and friends will forever remember the kindness she shared so naturally.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mabel Lawrence Sluss; grandson, Hunter Howard; siblings, Betty Mullins, Beatrice Collins, Della Bone and Louise Sluss, Rex Sluss and Baze Sluss.

She deeply loved her family, and her grandbabies were truly her world. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by the people she cherished most. Frances treasured every moment spent with her husband, Donald Collins, who stood beside her through 55 years with love and devotion. She was a proud and devoted mother to Linda Howard and her husband Danny of Coeburn, Virginia, and to Donnie Collins and his wife Melissa. Her children were a constant source of pride and joy in her life, and she carried her love for them in everything she did.

Frances was also a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother whose presence will be missed beyond measure. She leaves behind grandchildren Amber, Brandon, Kelsey, Savannah, Harley, Haylee, Christian, and Lexi, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her love continued into the next generation through her great-grandchildren Axton, Tucker, Colter, Zayden, Raylan, and Rinley, who brought her endless happiness and pride. She delighted in every visit, every laugh, and every precious family memory, and those moments will be treasured always by those who were blessed to share them with her.

She is also survived by her special nieces, Jojo Hobbs and Lauren Carico, along with several other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. Frances valued family in all its forms, and she maintained strong and loving bonds with those around her. Her life was enriched by the many relationships she built over the years, and she returned that love with sincerity and grace.

Frances had a joyful personality that will be remembered by all who knew her. She loved cooking, gardening, and dancing, and she found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She was always telling jokes and had a reputation as the family jokester, bringing laughter wherever she went. Her funny nature, loving heart, and generous spirit made her unforgettable. She had a way of lifting the mood in any room, and her sense of humor was one of the many gifts she shared with those around her.

Visitation for Frances will be Monday, August 10, 2026 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Mike Lawson officiating and burial to follow in the Mullins Family Cemetery.
