Coeburn, VA ~ Frank Burns Greear, Sr., 68, died Monday, September 29, 2003 at his residence in Coeburn, Virginia.
Mr. Greear was a member of the Apostolic Church of Dungannon, Va. He was retired from Ford Motor Co., worked for Glenn Roberts Tire, , retired Virginia Iron Coal and Coke Co., Flatwoods Job Corp and presently was the President of Country Living Adult Home, Inc. in Coeburn.
He served in the U.S. Army and married Nina Hagy and was a loving husband, father of 3 children and grandfather to 4 grandchildren. Frank was gentle spirit, a hearty laughter and loved Jesus. He loved playing music and was blessed with the talent of playing music by ear, a gift of God. He was part of the "Greear Brothers Band" that on the fourth of July 2003 honoring all the musicians of Coeburn, which participated in the First Bristol Sessions Recording with a monument unveiling. He held many benefits to help people in need of monies for sickness, house fire; anything that would benefit someone in need and never wanted any thanks. He also loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edison Greear and brother, James Leon Greear and Don Greear.
Survivors include his devoted wife if 47 years, Nina Hagy Greear; one son, Franklin Greear, Jr., Coeburn; two daughters, Donna Hall, Dungannon and Charma "Libby" Bolling, Gate City; sons-in-law, Bryan K. Hall, Dungannon and Dennis Bolling, Gate City; 4 grandchildren, Bryan K. Hall, Jr., Stephanie Hall, Natasha Powers and Celena Powers; his mother, Cecile Margaret Pippin; one brother, Gary Greear, Coeburn; four sisters, Margaret Powers, Coeburn, Sue Pooley, Melbourne, FL, Ann Dewine, Knoxville, TN and Mary Salyers, Norfolk, VA and several nephews,several nieces.

Funeral services for Frank Burns Greear, Sr. will be held Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Hall and Brother Curtis Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Greear Cemetery in Coeburn.Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Wednesday after 5:00 P.M. Pound VFW Post #9600 will furnish military graveside rites.
