Our dear father, Franklin Caleb Hayes, sadly passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the age of 76, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

Franklin was born on June 3, 1947, in Wise County to the late Alonzo and Stella Turner Hayes. He attended Fairview School and worked in the mining  and logging industry most of his life. Franklin had many titles in his life. To some he was known as Frank or daddy or papaw, but to most he was known as a friend. Frank loved nothing more than spending quality time with his family, and they will miss him dearly. Frank also enjoyed gardening, going to flea markets and raising chickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Bervie Hayes,  Thelma Castle, Newbie Hayes and Cleta Hayes; brothers, Melvin "Stanford" Hayes and Cecil Hayes.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Kimberley Hayes (Jerry Cross) of Bristol, Amanda Woolley (Michael) of Abingdon, Brandy Hayes (Warren Meade) of St. Paul, and Crystal (Mike) Pilkington of Clintwood; brothers, Ervin "Darvil" Hayes and Moses Hayes; sisters, Lakie Hayes and Geneva Lawson; grandchildren, Tiffany Archer, Joshua Archer, Ashley Harper, Trevor Kennedy, Dakota Wallace, Lindsey Meade, Michaela Wallace, Breanna Archer, Faith Meade, Ian Meade and Aiden Meade; eleven great-grandchildren with two more on the way; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023 from Noon - 2:00 PM with services to follow at 2:00 PM in the Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alvin Meade officiating. Special singing will be provided by Brian Cassell. Committal will follow in the Walker McCoy Cemetery on Marshalls Retreat Rd in Coeburn, VA.

Pallbearers will be, Warren Meade, Dakota Wallace, Jerry Cross, Donald Hayes, Robert Hayes and Michael Woolley.
