Harold David "Duke" Gross, 53, of Coeburn, VA passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2025.  Born on April 29, 1971 in Norton, VA, he was a son of the late Harold Donald and Sheila Deloris Gross.  He had a lifelong passion for street car racing, model cars and NASCAR.  Known for his sharp wit and good sense of humor, he always brought laughter to those around him.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Kristie Michelle (Dingus) Gross; special granddaughter, Raelynn Brooke Gross; eldest brother, Michael Glenn Gross.

Surviving are his children, Christopher Bryan Taylor, Devin Allen Gross (Makinleigh Calton) and Jennifer Hayley Patton (Brandon); brothers, Thomas Gene Gross (Sherri Laney) of Norton, VA and Gary Ernest Gross (Becky) of Coeburn, VA; grandchildren, Jaiden Taylor and Kennedy  Raizel Patton; special friends, Barry Meade and Jacinda Mann (who was like a sister to him); several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He will be missed dearly.

Visiting hours will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2026 at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA . Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Rice officiating. Special music will be provided by the King's Messengers.

Committal service will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.
