St. Paul, VA ~ Rev. Hasting Alexander Ward, 79 went home to be with the Lord,Monday, March 10, 2008 at his residence in St. Paul Virginia.
He was a retired employee of Oliver Coal Company and a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
Rev. Ward was a Baptist minister for over 50 years and was pastor for several area churches.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Amagene Ward; parents, Green and Mary Ward; one son, Anthony Ward; one granddaughter, Rachel Marella Ward; three sisters, Beatrice Simonds, Arizona Harkleroad, and Viola N. Meade; four brothers, Corbett Ward, Hubert Frank Ward, Hobert Nelson Ward and Howard Ward.
Survived by daughter Renee Paige, St. Paul; four sons, David Ward and wife Rita, and Harlan Wardand wife, Lois, all of St. Paul, Robert Wardand wife Gwen, Wendell Ward, all of Coeburn; sister, Sophia Parker, Kingsport, TN; brother, Herald Leon Ward, Coeburn; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many cherished friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday March 13, 2008 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral service will be at 8:00 P.M. with Rev. Claude Rose and Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. The family will meet at the funeral home and leave in procession at 12:15 P.M.
