St. Paul, VA ~ William Henry Lawson, Jr., 80 passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.
Henry was a US army veteran of the Korean war.
Henry belonged to the Sandy Ridge Old Regular Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as Clerk and Deacon, and loved to sing in church. He was a very faithful and steadfast member.
Hewas a building contractor for 50 years which he loved and enjoyed dearly. He was a very loving person who had a host of friends, who he always greeted with a handshake and smile. He will be dearly missed by his family, Church family and friends.
He attended the Union Association as a delegate for 45 years for Sandy Ridge Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late William Henry Lawson, Sr. and Orba Tabitha Lawson; also preceded in death by four sisters, Maxie Isaacs, Shelton Ruth Belcher, Martha Rose Hubbard, and Malla Lee Lawson; three brothers, Cecil Lawson, James Troy Lawson, and Joseph Dolye Lawson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille S. Lawson, St. Paul, VA, two sons, Jerry S. Lawson, and wife, Kay, St. Paul, VA and Kim Lawson, Kingsport, TN; two sisters, Shirley Goff, St. Paul, VA and Inez Holbrook, Coeburn, VA; one granddaughter, Lisa Lawson, Abingdon, VA.
Funeral services for William Henry Lawson, Jr. will be held on Sunday July 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Elders, Robbie Osborne, Danny O'Quinn, Earl Dean Yates, Carson Wright, James Tackett and Ronnie Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at the Jerry & Lydia Lawson Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Charles Denholm, Kirby Rose, Ben Franklin, Rickey Lawson, Buddy Clyde Sexton, Buddy Sexton, Bobby Salyers and Brandon Holbrook. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.
