Coeburn, VA ~ Hershel Ray "Buddy" Brooks Sr., 65, died Sunday, December 28, 2003 at Bon Secour St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
Mr. Brooks was a retired coal miner of Clinchfield Coal Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cedrick "Ted" Warren and Effie Mae Robinette Brooks; brother-in-law, Aaron "Big A" Hall, nephew, Aaron Steven Hall and sister-in-law, Carol Markham.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Renfro Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Robert Pope, Coeburn; sons, Hershel Ray Brooks, Jr. and Scott Allen Brooks, both of Coeburn; sister, Loretta B. Hall, Coeburn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Roger Yates and Judy and Phillip Ison all of Coeburn; brother and sister-in-law, Donald K. and Betty Brooks, Coeburn; brother, W. Dale Brooks, Coeburn; granddaughters, Megan Pope and Tara Pope, Coeburn and Courtney Brooks, Morristown, TN; grandson, Joshua Brooks, Coeburn; great grandson, Peyton Pope, Coeburn; niece, Melissa Yates, Coeburn; nephews, Brooks Ison and Kenny Brooks, Coeburn.
Funeral services for Hershel Ray "Buddy" Brooks, Sr. will be held 2 PM Tuesday at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Lawson and Rev. D.J. Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Coeburn. Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home Chapel on Monday after 6:00 P.M.
