Hershel Lee Jessee, 63 received his complete healing Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, VA. He was born February 15, 1963, in Norton, VA.

Hershel worked with Ballad Health for 30 years in the Xray department until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking, visiting family, and would love to have a house full. He always had a helping hand and preferred others before himself. He loved his savior Jesus and enjoyed playing music, singing, and fellowshipping in praise. Best husband, father, papaw, and friend, who will be missed by many.

Hershel is preceded in death by his father, Charles Bernice Jessee; mother, Maggie Shepperd Jessee; step-father, Charlie Ritchie; siblings, Faye, Gladys, Edie, Tommy "Bub", Maude, and Nell.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mandy Jessee, of the home; daughter, Kayla Jessee (David); sister, Dezarae Ritchie; grandchildren, Zoey and Cameron; bonus mom, Janie Ritchie; bonus brother, Roger Clay; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Misty Spears and Chester Spears; special people to him, Savana, Jacob, and Asher, along with special friend Matt; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation for Hershel will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA, with services following with Pastor Josh Tompkins officiating. Burial will be Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Fields Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends are ask to meet at the funeral home by 12:00pm to proceed to the cemetery.
