James Luther Ellis, 83, entered into rest Monday, March 17, 2025, at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was the son of the late Garfield Ellis and Mary Angie Mutter Ellis.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Ellis Brady; sisters, Thelma Sykes, and Kathleen Lumbardy; brothers, Huey Ellis, Worley Ellis, Willard Ellis, and Ervin Ellis, Sr.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Ellis of the home of 62 years; children, Huey Ellis (Angela) of Castlewood, VA, Robert Samuel Ellis (Courtney Sowards) of Pound, VA, John Ellis (Barbara) of Coeburn, VA, Jasmine Ellis of the home, and Robert James Ellis of Coeburn, VA; grandchildren, Justin Brummit, Ezra Ellis, Matthew Ellis, and great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Fay McConnell of Pensacola, FL; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Greenwood Acres in Coeburn, VA. A military Honors will be by the Local VFW, American Legion, and Army Honors Team. All those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.
