James Wheeler Hopkins, 76, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home in Pound, VA. He was born in Melvin, KY on November 23, 1944, the son of W. R. Hopkins and Mallie Tackett Hopkins. He lived many years in the state of Florida before moving back to Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Lee Hopkins, and his infant daughter, Rebecca Lynn Hopkins.

He is survived by one son, Christopher Hopkins of Plant City, FL; two daughters: Mischele Hopkins Rose of Plant City, FL and Tracey Hopkins of Lake Wales, FL; two grandsons; Michael Messick of St. Pete, FL and Robert Hopkins of Lake Wales, FL; one brother, Ellis Hopkins of Coeburn, VA; two sisters: Gloria Bryan of Melbourne, FL and Delores (Tony) Paragon of Proctorville, OH. He is also survived by one aunt; Kitty England of Rittman, OH and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a short memorial service on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Silas Porter will officiate a short eulogy. He desired to be cremated, so no burial service will be held.
