Jean Ann Hughes went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026. She was a loving wife, mother, and nanny to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Carter; mother, Cleo Greear; and grandparents, Fitz and Ruth Rose.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Jack R. Hughes, Jr; daughter, Amy Nixon (Robert); grandson, Tra Nixon (Brittni); granddaughter, Catherine Nixon (Casey); great-grandchildren, Bailey Nixon, Canaan Gray, and Carmen Jean Gray; brothers, Doug Carter (Missy) and Burke Greear (Amy); her childhood lifelong friend, Katie Roberts Sanders.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 1:00pm with Pastor John and Martha McCarroll officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Grove Cemetery In Ramsey, Norton, VA.

Pallbearers to serve are Tra Nixon, Casey Gray, Cody Carico, Robert Nixon, Burke Greear, and Mike Lawson. Honorary Pallbearers are Adrian Wells, and Ryan Carter.
