Coeburn, VA - Jennie Mae Mitchell Meade, 84, gained her heavenly wings on October 14, 2023 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA.

Jennie was a military wife from 1956 to 1972 and lived various places before returning home in the Sandy Ridge Community. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid bird lover who loved her domestic and wild birds.

Jennie was born on November 25, 1938, to the late Albert Mitchell and Clarice Russell Mitchell. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Meade; daughter, Debra Kay Smith; two sisters, Rebecca "Becky" Dickey, and Marcia Ecker; granddaughter, Amber Nicole Meade; and daughter-in-law, Susan Bentley Meade.

Left to cherish her memories are her five sons, Henry Christopher Meade, Robert Roy Meade and wife, Shelia both of Taylorsville, NC, Sherman Wayne Meade and wife, Lisa of Powell, TN, George Mason Meade and husband, Roger Allan Malone of Knoxville, TN, and Phillip Warren Meade and wife, Brandy of St. Paul, VA; son-in-law, Charlie Smith of Coeburn, VA; two sisters, Margaret Richards of Scotts Mills, OR, and Allison Mitchell of Salem, OR; grandchildren, Shannon Osborne, Shana Helton, Robert "Colely" Conner, Cristen Meade, Cassidy Williamson, Carmen Meade, Robin Davidson, Autumn Brickey, Dakota Wallace, Lindsey Meade, Michaela Wallace, Faith Meade, Ian Meade, and Aiden Meade; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Josh, Gabe, Jensen, Charlie, Roman, Oliver, Liam, Landon, and Alivia; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

As per Jennie's and her family's request, she will be cremated and all services will be private.
