Coeburn, VA ~JohnEdward Davis, 81 died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia.
Hewas a retired coal miner and a U. S. Navy veteran of the WW 2, attaining the rank of Seaman First Class and was presented the following medals, Asatic Pacific area 4 Stars, American Area Philippine Liberation 1 Star and Victory Medal World War II. Also a member of Bull Run Freewill Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Beecher and Annie Davis; also preceeded in death by brothers, James and Roy Davis.
Survivors include, his wife, Sylvia Evelyn McReynolds Davis; children, Carolyn Hileman and husband, Ronald, Castlewood, VA, Charlotte McCroskey and husband, Ronald, Abingdon, VA, Johnnie Davis and wife, Marion and Norman Davis and wife, Betty, all of Coeburn; Sisters, Myrtle Gilliam and Patsy Salyer , Coeburn, VA; sister-in-law, Virginia Powers; Brothers, Bill Davis and Harold Davis, both of MI, Douglas Davis, and Gene Davis both of Coeburn; brothers-in-law, Hadie McReynolds, Ballard McReynolds and Thaddeus McReynolds; Grandchildren, Ann and Jeff Brooks, Chad and Melanie Davis, Allison and Eric Wohlford, Jonathan and Lauren Davis, Daniel Davis, Brad McCroskey and Cea Cea Davis; great grandchild, Davis Wohlford.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 28, 2007at Estes Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 PM and funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Rev. Teddy Phillips and Rev. Mitchell Eliott officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM Monday, Oct. 29, 2007at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN. Arrangementsby Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
