Coeburn, VA

John Henry Finch, 87, entered into rest Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Heritage Hall in Wise, VA. He was born November 1, 1936, in Dungannon, Scott County, VA to the late Charlie and Pearlie Gibson Finch.

John lived in Coeburn for 50 plus years. He enjoyed and loved farming and gardening and was known to always have a pocket full of candy. He worked at Coeburn Produce, Palmer Electric and retired as a Coal Plant Operator.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Lula Sexton Finch; step-mother, Edith Sexton Finch; brothers, Bill (Ida) Finch, and Jack Finch; sisters, Mary Kate Sluss, Jo Finch, and Stella Mae (Clyde) Collins; step-brother, Darrell Sexton; grandson, Michael Bright.

John leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, Gary (Kathie) Finch of Lewisport, KY; daughter, Amy (Tommy) Bright of Coeburn, VA; grandson, Norris (Donna) Bright of Coeburn, VA; his special granddaughter, Gequetta Bright of Coeburn, VA; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and with his excitement to have another one on the way; brothers, Ray (Lou) Finch of Dungannon, VA, Charles Lester "Bob" Finch of Coeburn, VA, Phillip Finch of TN, and Joe Finch of Dungannon, VA; sisters, Juanita (Johnny) Castle of Nickelsville, VA, and Sarah Jane (Vernon) Bostic of TN; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends Friday, June 14, 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm with Pastor RL Crawford officiating. Entombment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
