Johnny Ray Ball, Sr. entered into rest on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Johnson Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. He was born May 11, 1939, in Dorchester, VA to the late Christopher and Grace Stidham Ball. He worked as a loader operator in coal mining where he retired from Glamorgan Coal Corp.

In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his wife, Janis Carol Ball; son, Douglas Wayne Ball; siblings, Paul Ball, Archie Ball, Bruce Ball, Emory Ball, and Margaret Ball Davidson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children, Johnny Ray Ball, Jr. of Pound, VA, James Robert Ball (Violet) of Ashville, NC, Ruby Fultz (Terry) of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Roger Ball of Wise, VA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Terry Fultz officiating. Graveside will follow in Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.
