Coeburn, VA ~ Jona Amburgey, 91 passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his daughter's residence in Coeburn, Virginia.
He was a former employee of Clinchfield Coal Company and the Wise County Sheriff Department. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was an avid farmer.
Jona was the son of the late John Robert Amburgey and Melvina Mullins Amburgey; also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Massie Amburgey, twosisters, Elva J. Powers, Mary Avia Funk and June DeHart; special friend, Jim Mann.
Survivors include daughters, Linda (Troy) Freeman, Coeburn and Amy (Danny) Burke; a son, Robert (Patsy) Amburgey, Coeburn; a sister, Opal Geneva Salyers, Abingdon; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Jona Silas Amburgey will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Nolan Stanley and Rev. R. L. Crawford officiating. Entombment will be 11 AM Friday, September 16, 2016 at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.
