Coeburn, VA ~ Juanita "Nita" Turner Bond, 101, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.
She was born Sept. 18, 1909 to the late Henry E. and Lucy Geneva Hilliman Turner; also preceded in death by her husband, E. H. Bond; sisters, Betty C. Rothwell and Alice Counts; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. R. R. Turner & Mary Ruth Turner; nephew, Robbie Rothwell.
Nita was a lifelong resident of Coeburn, and was a retired school teacher. Having taught school in Coeburn, Riverview, and Tacoma for 35 years. After retiring she then worked for Headstart for 25 years, retiring at age 96.
She was a member of South Coeburn United Methodist Church, where she played the piano until her death.
Survivors include, special friend, Betty Hughes; nieces, Lynn Allio, South Carolina;Ellen Gutierrez, Nashville, TN and Cindy Rothwell, Florida, and caregiver, Wanda Hughes.
Nita's request was to be cremated. Graveside Memorial service will be held May 8, 2011 at3:00 P.M.in Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
