Obituary

Larry Kenneth Palmer St. Paul, Virginia

Larry Kenneth Palmer, age 72, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He was born on March 4, 1954, to the late Raymond Edgar Palmer and Anne Lee Palmer.

Larry was a graduate of St. Paul High School, Class of 1974, where he enjoyed playing football throughout his high school career. Following graduation, Larry met and married his first wife, Dianna Jean Palmer, and together they were blessed with a son, Jeremy.

Larry began his career in the oil and gas industry with Sauls Oilfield Service and Penn Virginia, where he learned his trade and gained the experience that would lead him to establish his own company. In 1992, he founded Jerrco, Inc. and operated the business independently until his son Jeremy joined him in 2005. Father and son worked side by side until 2018. Larry took great pride in his work and deeply appreciated his dedicated employees and coworkers, including Junior Boyd, Scott Compton, Joey Miller, Kenneth Miller, and many other hard-working individuals who helped make Jerrco a success.

Following 2018, Jerrco transitioned into an auto diesel repair shop, where Larry and Jeremy continued working together until Larry's passing.

Outside of his work, Larry had a true love for bicycles and cycling. He enjoyed riding throughout the Outer Banks, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and through the Florida Keys. His faith was also an important part of his life. Larry was a deacon and devoted member of First Baptist Church, where he especially enjoyed driving the church bus for various trips and transporting children to and from church. His service to his church and community was a reflection of the caring person he was.

Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church family, former coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianna Jean Palmer; his brother, Frank Palmer; and brother-in-law, Rex Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margaret Luther Palmer; his son, Jeremy Palmer; sisters, Charlotte Poff and husband Charles, and Glenda “Judy” Brown; nieces and nephews, Mary Williams and husband Jeff, Susie Ring, Tim Brown, and Marie Collins and husband Scott; along with several other close relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Estes Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. for visitation. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Bobby Rose officiating.
