Coeburn, VA

Larry Wayne Pennington, 67, of Coeburn, VA entered into rest Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Norton Community Hospital. He was born May 29, 1954, to the late Erskine and Joan Pennington in Norton, VA.  As a young man, Larry was remembered as a Hellraiser. Later he worked in the coal mines where he entered retirement. He was the house dad to his children, after his mining accident, while Connie worked outside the home as they were growing up. Larry was very proud and loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed going fishing and watching golf on tv.

Along with his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother, Greg Pennington; sister, Patty Hamilton; nephews, Trevor Pennington and Travis Pennington.

Larry is survived by his wife, Connie Pennington; children, Jesse Pennington of Coeburn, VA and Amanda Hardt and husband Scott of Granbury, TX; stepson, Matthew Keith of Clintwood, VA; brothers, Gary Pennington of Coeburn, VA, and Tommy Pennington and wife Norma of Coeburn, VA; grandchildren, Parker Keith, Tyler Hardt, Dalton Hardt, Hawkins Pennington; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Richie officiating.
