Norton, VA - Larry Gene Straley, Sr.

Larry Gene Straley, Sr., 83, entered into rest, Tuesday, January 25, 2 022, at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. He was born January 4, 1939, to the late Henry and Helen Straley in Giles County, Virginia.

Larry served his country in the United States Army. He worked in construction until his retirement, doing contracting work in which he enjoyed working. He loved his family, children, and grandchildren greatly.

In Addition to his parents, Larry is preceeded in death by his brother Oakley Straley.

Larry leaves behind his wife Carolyn Holbrook Straley; sons, Larry Gene Straley, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Greenville, VA and Arnie Stephens and wife Halie of Norton, VA; daughter, Cindy Edens of Mooresville, NC; step-son, Jesse Barnette of Navarre, FL; grandchildren, Andrew Straley, Rebecca Straley Alanko and husband Eric, Christopher Britt, Justine Britt, Makenzie Renfro, Gage Stephens, Gibson Stephens, and Grayson Stephens; great-grandchildren Piper and Phoebe Porter; sister, Patty Kirk of Earlysville, VA; brother, Jimmy Straley of Troy, VA; several extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Estes Funeral Home. Graveside services will be private at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN.
