Coeburn, VA ~ Leona Lester Kennedy, 96 , a beautiful lady who's life centered around family, left for heaven Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
She is survived by her loving first born daughter, Renee' Scott, Norton, VA, her much loved youngest son, Rod Kennedy, Wise, her loving son-in-law, Larry Wayne Chandler, Norton, and Clinton W. Hawkins, Jr., Coeburn; grandchildren whom she cherished, John Scott, Norton, Jason (Julie) Scott, Wise, Hillary Chandler Ketron and Aaron, Steven Chandler and Don, CA; her precious great-grandchildren, Chase Scott and Carly Scott; very special niece, Pam Mullins, Bristol, VA and wonderful sister-in-law, Louise Kilgore, Richmond.
She was the wife of the late O'Hara Kennedy, also preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ellen Rasnick Lester, two daughters, Linda Gail Hawkins, and Rebecca Denise 'Dee-Dee' Chandler, a grandson, Clinton Hawkins III and son-in-law, Mac Scott, sister, Maggie Bright and all whom she loved dearly.
The family will remember her as an active, selfless mother and grandmother who was always high spirited and intent on mentoring her family. She was a vibrant woman of great energy and true grit and a true lady.
To those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her, she will be forever missed and be in our memories forever.

Funeral services for LeonaKennedy will be held on Friday November 08, 2019 1:30 PM at Rugsby Cemetery with Rev. Richard Hill officiating. Burial will be Friday November 08, 2019 at Rugsby Cemetery. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.
