Abingdon, VA ~ Lily Juanita Burke Large Creed, 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 4, 2016 at Abingdon Health & Rehab in Abingdon Virginia.
She was born December 30, 1922 in Coeburn, VA a daughter of the late Charlie Burke and Mary Kennedy Burke. She lived most of her life in the Coeburn area before moving to Abingdon 25 years ago.
She was a housewife andhad worked as a cook at Norton Community Hospital. She attended Greendale Chapel in Abingdon and will always be remembered for her love of family and generosity to others.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Large and her second husband, Ray Creed; one grandson, Bryan Large, Jr.; three sisters, Elizabeth Shupe, Nancy Hipshier and Melvina Stallard; two brothers, Albert Burke and Winfield Burke.
Survivors include two daughters, Verna Livingston and husband, J.D. of Elizabethon, TN, Darlene Hylton and husband, Buck of Abingdon, VA; two sons, Billy Large, Coeburn, and Bryan Keith Large and wife, Vickie of Bristol, TN; one sister, Millie Roberts of Coeburn; one brother, George Burke of Richmond, VA; 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Lily Juanita Creed will be held on Monday March 7, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leslie Ritchie and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday after 6:00 P.M. until time of funeral service.
