Lloyd Cecil Porter, 80, son of the late Emmett and Golda Porter, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006.
Cecil was a veteran of WW II serving in the 15th Air Corp Division. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis Club of Coeburn. Member of Coeburn Masonic Lodge #97 AF and AM for over 50 years.
He attended First Baptist Church in Coeburn.
Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by 3 brothers, Garnet, Glen and Wendell Porter; 1 sister, Peggy Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Alta Porter; 2 step-daughters, Roberta Wiernik, New York and Linda Fuller, Coeburn; 5 brothers, Joe, Bill and Paul Porter, all of Coeburn, Fred and Arthur Porter both of Abingdon; 2 sisters, Belle Daughtery, Bristol, VA and Janice Yeary, Coeburn and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lloyd Cecil Porter will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R.J. Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens where Pound VFW Post 9600 will preform military graveside rites. Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2006 after 6 PM at the funeral home where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 PM by Coeburn Masonic Lodge #97. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cecil Porter Scholarship Fund in care of University of Virginia at Wise, Wise, Virginia.
