Margaret “Annette” Jones Sluss passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on April 11, 1933 in Norton , VA to the late Edgar and Oma Connell Jones.

Annette was the owner of Nifty Paving Company with her husband for many years. She was a wonderful wife of over 65 years, mother and grandmother. She was also a member of Norton Christian Church. Above all else, she loved and adored her family and children, and that love remained at the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sluss; her father and mother, Edgar and Oma Jones; her son, Jackie Sluss; her daughter, Lisa Sluss; and her sister, Myrtle Cowden.

Annette leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Mills (Danny) of Coeburn, Virginia, and Janet Stafford (Tim) of Greenville, Tennessee; and by her son, Scotty Sluss (Erika Fleming) of Coeburn, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jackie Jr., Melonie, Eric, Lyndsay, Drew, Zac, and Ranger; many great and great-great grandchildren who were an important part of her life and will carry her memory forward with love.

A graveside service will be held on September 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Acres, 436 Centre Ave NE, Coeburn, Virginia 24230. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.

Annette will be remembered with love by her family and by all who knew her.
