Mary "Polly" Sands Nixon, 97, formerly of Coeburn, VA died peacefully November 23, 2023 at her residence in Middle River, Maryland.

Mary is preceded in death by her two husbands, Virgil Gambrell and William Nixon; her parents, Floyd and Mary Sands; Grandchildren, Mary Ann Hughes, Virgil Gambrell and Traci Lee. She was also preceded in death by her nine siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Kylene) Gambrell, Darrell (Margie) Gambrell, both of Coeburn, VA; Daughters, Donna Hagerman, Elizabeth (Kevin) Williams of Baltimore, MD; Grandchildren,  Kris, Jeannie, Heather, Shannon, John and Kim; Great Grandchildren,  Jeffrey, Corey, Abigail, Wayne, Kayla, William, Joshua, Kristin, Mariah, Shyanne, Montana, Zoey, Carson, Harper, Ariella, Camdyn, and  Audrey; Great-Great Grandchildren, Teagan, Emberlynn, Analeigh, Aynsleigh, Calleigh, Issac, Lydia, Jody, Joshua, and Josiah; former daughter-in-law, Elaine Gambrell of Bunker Hill, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of Estes Funeral home. Committal will follow at Greenwood Memorial Garden in Coeburn, VA.
