Weber City, VA ~Mary Helen Perry Sowards, 82, loving mother and grandmother, formerly of Coeburn, Va. went to be with her Lord, Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City Tennessee.
Shewas born in Pennington Gap, Virginia and was a member of the Darthula Baptist Church in Hiltons, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ballard and LouisaKing; husband, Robert "Barney" Sowards; sister, Ruth Rose; brother, Ralph King.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Porter, and husband, Bill and Marian Davis, and husband, Johnnie, all of Coeburn, VA; step-son, Steve Sowards, Roanoke, VA; one brother, Roy King, Corbin, KY; 3 grandsons, Richard Porter, Daniel Davis and Captain Jonathan Davis;2 granddaughters, Kelly Porter and Jane Dotten; 2 great grandsons, John Hall III and Jonathan Dotten; very special friend and caregiver, Pat Mays; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mary Helen Sowards will be held after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral service will be at 7:30 P.M. with Rev. Layton Bentley and Rev. Gary Perdue officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens in Coeburn, VA at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
