Melinda was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald Sykes and Lucille Stanley.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Melissa Adkins, and her three sisters, Linda Bryant, Betty Sykes, and Kathy Sigmon. A burial service to honor Melinda’s life will be held at Hamilton Town Cemetery, located on Hamilton Town Road, Coeburn, VA 24230, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 5:00pm. The service is open to all who wish to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose compassion and spirit will long be cherished. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Melinda Lucille Sykes’ memory and the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
